Selling MY ART Online!

Hello everyone – long time no see. Welcome back to my blog!

OK so we have some things to catch up about. It’s summer now and I’m living in Boston (ooooh so fancy). During the year when I’m living at school, I work two part time jobs while doing school work full time (ugh). Now that it’s summer and I’m living away from home, I was thinking now would be a good time to really start focusing on my career. You know… after school. Which is super scary just so you know.

I’ve been doing a lot of graphic design and drawing and have been thinking about doing freelance full time. I have dreams to live in a van off the grid and just enjoy my life as much as I can. (I’ll explain the van dream in another post.)

So I’m away from home trying to make a name for myself and I decided to say f it to a part time job and am trying to make it on my own as a designer and artist. Well it’s been about a week and I’m doing poorly… I’m working every single day making designs and art and uploading them to sites to try and sell them and I’m even doing work on the freelance website UpWork. I’ve gotten one job so far on there which is super fun but I can’t seem to get an interview somewhere else which is super frustrating.

But I started selling my art online – like I said. I’m selling digital prints on Etsy, different art and designs on Redbubble and Society 6, and I’m even getting into surface pattern design and trying to sell fabric, wallpaper, and wrapping paper on Spoonflower. Please check out those hyperlinks if you’re interested – Spoonflower coming soon!

I realized the other night while drinking a glass of rose and eating Oreos that I needed something else. I’ve been promoting my work on my Pinterest but with little luck. I know this is going to take time and I’m ready to put in the work. But GOSH I’m concerned.

Anyway, I decided that I needed to come back to my blog. Connect with people more closely. When I go on Etsy or Redbubble I look at the art and I don’t feel a connection with it. But when I know that artist I want to buy it because it has a deeper connection to my life.

I want to create a super close knit community here where we can talk and share beautiful art!

Huda Beauty Desert Dusk – First Impression

What’s up buttercup!

I’m back again with a slightly different post. If you weren’t aware – I’m a huge makeup junkie. I watch beauty videos religiously, follow too many beauty gurus on Instagram, and try out different makeup and makeup looks daily. As a college student, I more often than not purchase drug store or less expensive makeup. I have found some awesome drug store dupes for high end brands and great products in general.

However, I’m heading abroad in the fall and I’ve been hunting for a pallet that I can mess around with and do fun day looks, night looks, and really out there looks. I tried to find a drug store pallet but nothing was catching my eye. I made the mistake of going into Sephora and than’s when I found the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk pallet. It was amazing so naturally I had to splurge. Let me just say, it was so worth the money. Let’s get into my first impression of the pallet:

Cost: $65 USD

Shadow Count: 18 in all (10 shimmer, 8 matte)

Worth It?: Yes

So I’ve tried this pallet a few times doing a few different looks. The shadows I love and that are totally unique and beautiful are: Twilight (purple to blue iridescent), Cosmo (golden red iridescent), Angelic (champaign pink shimmer), and Amethyst (pigmented, pure purple).

Overall all the shadows have really impressed me. This is the first Huda Beauty product I’ve ever owned, and it makes me want to get more. I can see the top row of shadows working perfectly for natural day looks and the purples and shimmers working great for night looks.

The look I’m wearing in the picture features Musk and Eden in the crease. Then I added some Oud to the outer V and Amethyst deep in the crease. Then I ended it off by adding Angelic to the outer half of the lid and Nefertiti to the inner half of the lid.

Another favorite look I’ve found is Eden and Amber in the crease. A little bit of Oud in the outer V with the tiniest amount of Amethyst on top. Finally Twilight all over the lid.

Overall this is so worth the money in my opinion. I love wearing purple shadows (so good for bringing out brown eyes)!!

Easter Celebration!

What’s up buttercup?

I hope everyone had a fun weekend and a great Easter and Passover! I just wanted to write a quick post about my Easter celebration as I thought it was a bit, well, different.

Well every year I go to Easter brunch with my family and friends. We did that this year and as usual it was awesome.

Me and my bestie after eating a lot

It’s just a buffet of breakfast and lunch foods – everything you could think of. Honestly it’s an excuse to eat way too much and not feel bad about it.

So anyway my family and I always dye eggs for the holiday (doesn’t matter how old we get). We didn’t have time to before brunch so we decided to afterwards. We spent a couple of hours experimenting and dying eggs in different and fun new ways. We did typical single color eggs then graduated to duel colors then to ombre. We had a lot of fun with that obviously.

Then it got more intense. I got a paint brush we were mixing colors it was a blast. My sister’s boyfriend was a visual art major. He started taking pictures of the egg dying process and we were talking about the aesthetics of the eggs. Then we got this idea to take pictures of the eggs in cute places. I found a old basket I made in high school and gathered some fake grass.

We decided we had to take the pictures with my dog – Gracie. So we had to wrangle her and sit her down nice and pretty. We ended up having to use treats and telling her how beautiful she is. After it all we ended up with some awesome pics!

I featured one on my Instagram (@sara.meredith). But I thought I would feature some more here because we took a lot of really cool ones! Enjoy the beautiful eggs! All taken on the iPhone 7 Plus and edited in Lightroom.

Hello there!

Hello!

My name is Sara Rose. I’m a Media Studies and Production student with a minor in Graphic Design and Spanish. I’m obviously passionate about film, photography, and digital storytelling. I also love to travel, do yoga, rock climb, and recently started running (yes for fun). I love writing and connecting with people as well. I recently started to love working on my online presence – specifically in social media (Instagram @sara.meredith).

I love Instagram for sharing my pictures and experiences with people from all over the globe and learning about others. As I’ve been growing my Instagram presence, I’ve been thinking about starting a blog to go along with it. There’s just not enough space in captions to say all I need to say! I knew a blog would be a big commitment but in the long run help me grow my audience, connect with even more people, and have stored memories I could look back on. I finally hiked up my hi-rise jeans and treated myself to a domain name and designed my blog.

I paid for 36 months of subscription at a good deal (which is 3 years wow), so I’m going to do my best to make the most out of these next three years and hopefully get somewhere with blogging! Sometimes I’ll be up to really exciting stuff (projects and studying abroad) and other times I just want to share my life with the world. Hopefully my life can help, inspire, or teach someone.

I’m so glad you’re going to be reading along and going through this journey with me. I can’t wait to see where blogging takes me – both on my social media but also my personal growth. Let’s make this the best blog ever ! (Let a girl dream.)
