Natural Coconut Oil Lip Balm

Recently I have been trying to make my own beauty products naturally – instead of constantly needing to buy new products covered in plastic that are toxic. One thing I always have to buy is lip balm.

I’ve been focusing more on skin care and my lips have always been an issue – they’re always chapped or peeling or doing whatever they want to do. I’ve recently started using a sugar and jojoba oil lip scrub that I got from Lush and I love it (when it runs out I’m going to try and make a dupe of it)! After I exfoliate my lips with it, I usually slap on some coconut oil to keep all the moisture in and really promote happy, plump, and soft lips.

I’ve seen some lip balm recipes on Pinterest that are natural and full of great nutrients for your lips. It finally dawned on me that I could make my own lip balm naturally with coconut oil that I could use all the time to keep my lips healthy and supple!

The recipe below is SO easy and you probably have everything you need already in your house! Winter is coming – make sure to take care of your lips!

Here’s what you need:

  • 1 tsp Vaseline / 100% petrolium jelly
  • 1 tsp unrefined coconut oil
  • Container to hold the lip balm
  • Spoon
  • 1 or 2 small bowls
  • Beloved essential oil (optional)

Here’s what you do:

  1. Measure out 1 tsp of Vaseline into the small bowl
  2. Warm Vaseline up in the microwave (I did about 45 seconds checking every 10 seconds)
  3. Warm up coconut oil if needed (place in another small bowl and warm up in microwave)
  4. Combine the two and mix together well with spoon
  5. Optional: drip in a drop or two of your favorite essential oil for a scent
  6. Pour the mixture into the small container
  7. Freeze for 20-30 minutes
